Tanzania is a year round destination and the best time to visit depends on what you want to experience. For wildlife safaris, the dry season from June to October is a popular choice for game viewing. For the Great Migration, different parts of the Serengeti offer different experiences throughout the year.
For beach holidays, Zanzibar, Mafia Island and Tanzania's coast can be enjoyed throughout much of the year, while mountain adventures such as Kilimanjaro are also possible in different seasons.
We recommend booking 2–3 months in advance for most trips, especially for popular safari destinations such as Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Tanzania's Northern Circuit is one of the country's key safari routes.
For peak travel periods, private safaris, larger groups or specific lodges, booking earlier is recommended to secure your preferred accommodation and itinerary. Last minute trips may also be possible, depending on availability.
